I've mentioned this before but it could be worth repeating, it was written on a wall in a concentration camp.
When I meet my maker he is going to have to ask for my forgiveness.

The formatting problem has been noted by others, you are not alone in experiencing the problem.
However the problem with using the Bible to illustrate anything is that one can find in it whatever one wants to find, it is no more than a collection of writings chosen from a great number by a committee of politicians to suit their own ends and those writings were obviously written by people who had very little knowledge of the world or of the cosmos, their world was very small and limited to countries around the eastern end of the Mediterranean if even that much, plus many of them were rewrites of earlier stories or used myths and legends as a basis.
On the other thread I illustrated how a biblical quote was used to justify punishing babies with a stick and how religion can allow people to advise parents to do just that without those people having anything on their conscience.
There are politicians in the US who will use Bible quotations to show that we can ignore global warming, one example.

I would also suggest that Revelations has more to do with the local mushrooms than anything divine.
The Creation story can be totally ignored if for no other reason we know that the order in which it says things were created was simply not so.
We know how stars are formed, it can be observed happening, the sun is just a main sequence star of which there are billions like it, it is nothing special and we know the planets were formed after the sun and the moon after the earth, not as the story makes out, the other way round.
We may indeed be damaging the earth but it will be no good looking to an imaginary being for which there is no evidence of it's existence, to help us. we have to do it for ourselves.
As for the Sermon on the Mount, it contains some of the stupidest advice that anyone could give and directly goes against the concept of looking after the earth.
“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Not bothering about tomorrow is what got the earth to the situation it is in today but that's what you get for listening to a fool, only a fool would say that.

We have in the centuries past faced many catastrophic diseases & survived them most of them have been blamed by the church as a punishment from God for humans misdemeanours, in actuality in a way it was humans who caused the diseases in the way our houses were built , lack of hygiene etc, only when the diseases were understood & how they spread did the way in which with live start to change.& if indeed it was a punishment from God what does it say about all the so called teachers of gods word who also succumbed to these very same diseases even now a particular disease has been used as a punishment from God& yet the church now allows the very same people to practice in the church etc, with these double standards is it any wonder their teachings hold no water. I hasten to add I use this as an example & for no other reason!.

After the last big earthquake in Pakistan many were saying that it was punishment for not being true to their faith.
Of course the fact they were living on a fault line and earthquakes could be expected to happen had nothing to do with it.
A classic example where the lack of knowledge of the natural world supports religion which does depend on ignorance.
Knowledge doesn't always prevent those who should know better particularly in the US, blaming disasters on such as gay marriage.

All the believers who state that their facts are so are dishonest!
They state categorically that this, that and the other are facts when they're quite clearly NOT a fact.
They'd be honest if they said "I believe......." this, that and the other are a fact.
It's been said before that the inexplicable was always explained away by claiming that their god did/created this, that or everything else and that is definitely a fact.
I suppose that if someone came along and said that they "believe" the Big Bag happened but it was one of many over time and that the Universe as we know it is only a small part of a bigger, much bigger, super-massive never ending Universe and that they believe that Big Bangs happen every so often in different parts of that super-massive Universe, the whole idea would be ridiculed by many but taken on board by others?
Those believers would be challenged to "prove it" when of course, they can't and they might say "I know it's so" just like religious believers claim that they "know". Really, they know nothing more than what they've read or been told.
Let's be honest, we "know" some things to be true, others are likely to be true, yet more are possibly true but many others are only "true" in the eyes and minds of those want to believe them.

The 'God is Love' thing is something beyond my comprehension since it never seems to have manifested itself.
It must be due to people's ability to ignore the obvious flaws in their belief, the people who think someone being pulled alive after several days buried in the rubble caused by an earthquake, is a miracle from God and ignore the fact that if it was true, in order for God to perform the miracle many other people had to die.

I'm afraid apart from quoting passages from a man written book there is no evidence anywhere that can be brought forward to substantiate the validity that these words came from god.
I honestly believe that if you are susceptible to suggestion from a very persuasive talker you will come to believe the moon is made of cheese & no amount of facts & evidence will sway you from that course.
I speak as a dealer in facts, I see something before me, I check why & how it's occurred , the effects, the cause & hopefully how it can be prevented, I would never take someone else's word for it I must & do see for myself, if I disagree I will state my reasons for it , if they continue in believing they are right then they must convince me with evidence to prove it, I then make up my own mind after first studying both sides of evidence & facts, never would I take a decision without this.
Up to now I have not seen anything to convince me to change my mind, which in a way saddens me I would dearly love that evidence!
Unless it's forthcoming the debate will just keep going round in circles & the believers & non believers will just keep on asking & receiving the same answers.
