Yes you have point! This is how things can all become confusing, we say that our children remain with the status of minors until they are 18, but they are old enough to consent to sex at 16. So we have a load of minors having sex and perhaps having sex with adults.
I know when it comes to my children 25 won't be old enough in my eyes!

I don't think "we have a load of minors having sex and perhaps having sex with adults" because the age of consent is 16.
At 16 a person can start full time work, they can get married, they can leave home, they can buy beer, cider or wine with a meal in a pub or restaurant, they can give consent for their own medical, dental and surgical treatment, join the armed forces etc etc
It is probably best to describe a 16 year old as a young adult, and treat them as such, rather than call them a child.
Which is why I referred to them as minors rather than children. Until they are 18 they are minors and therefore if they have sex they are minors having sex. There is plenty they can' t do or be responsible for until they are 18, can' t be arsed to look it all up mright now!
