Long time since I've tried it.  What I found went down very well was Cloburg Laski Reisling.  Just about right.

What I do have a lot of trouble finding is Elizabethan Mead.  Half the kids serving in supermarkets haven't even heard of it.  There are places that sell it, but it comes through the post and by the time you mess about with all that, it's quite an expensive affair.  In the end I settle for ginger wine, a poor substitute.  You used to be able to get it in proper off licences, but they're drying up fast because of the supermarkets.
