Fusilier Stephen Taylor, 60, lost £71.20 a week after collecting for the Royal British Legion charity for a total of 24 hours in two weeks
An Army veteran has had his Jobseeker’s Allowance stopped after selling poppies in memory of fallen comrades.
Fusilier Stephen Taylor, 60, lost £71.20 a week after collecting for the Royal British Legion charity for a total of 24 hours in two weeks.
He told Bury Jobcentre staff in Greater Manchester about his volunteering and they stopped his £71.20-a-week payment saying he wasn’t actively seeking work.
He has missed four weeks’ pay and is now behind with rent. Stephen, who served in Cyprus, Kenya and Ulster in the 70s when a close comrade was shot and killed, said: “It’s all wrong.”

It's typical of the sanctions regime, any reason no matter how slight can be found to cut payments.

There's something not right with that because Job Seekers are allowed to do voluntary work as long as it does not interfere with their job searching.
In fact, many are encouraged to do so to try and help them gain other skills, network etc.

I can see their problem, it should really be Farteg.
I have lived in Wales for so long, any word with an 'f' in it I automatically pronounce as a 'v' sound though I'm still okay if it starts with an 'f'.

You are talking about a regime where a person given two job interviews did not attend the second one because the first one offered them a job but was sanctioned for that non attendance when they were later made redundant.
