Hello team
Also a feedback post.
I was chatting to a regular private seller yesterday, selling his old tools and the like. He’s fully aware of the HMRC reporting next year, he’s a quite a savvy retired ‘chap’. I asked him if he was aware of the incoming payment holds until delivery confirmation, advised him of the basics as he has no idea of the changes.
Along with the many forum posts of rejecting simple delivery confusion it all feels a bit messy.
Given media reporting on this isn’t entirely accurate and are creating a negative narrative are there plans to communicate this (other than the updated T&C) and other changes sooner than later?
I know it’s not in your arena to action such things, it seems a damage limitation clear concise announcement would be beneficial.
Just my thoughts.Wish the team a gentle festive period.
Jo
Hi bojangled, thanks for your input.
We are unable to confirm any changes at the moment, but should anything change, we would definitely communicate it to everyone as usual. However, thanks for the input, we will make sure to pass this on.
Also, thanks for the nice wishes, we wish you and your loved ones a festive period too. 🙂
Have a good one,
Marco

I have seen quite a few electrical goods that are avilable to the EU where the seller has put the responsible person as someone in the UK, ive reported a few but its clear many many sellers are chancing their arm. Can i suggest that in catagories where that item has to comply to GPSR ( ie new electrical ) that the system will not accept invalid details .... get the AI to so some of the work as these are the key products GPSR was designed to protect buyers from and the ones the EU will be checking.
Hi @moonspender ,
Appreciate your feedback point on it. I will share it with the relevant team.
Thank you,

Can you tell me the process for reporting a seller for being a business with a personal account and a seller breaching GSPR rules please as I cant see either of those options in either reporting a seller or reporting a listing.
Hi @custom-giftsuk ,
We are currently following this up to get clarification. Once we have more information on it I will share.
Thank you,
Kat

As this is the last chat of the year, is there any info on when private sellers will be forced into Simple Delivery and what it will involve, please? It's happening in Q1, and the next chat will actually be in Q1.
I know you often pass feedback back to the relevant team etc. Would it be possible to please pass back to the CEO that if he makes an announcement about a change that will have a huge effect on all private sellers, it would be a very good idea to have all the whys and wherefores, and more importantly the when in an announcement ready to be published at the same time.
It is now well over 2 weeks since he announced this change, yet we still have no details, it seems that we are not even worthy of a 'yes it's happening, but we are as much in the dark as you'. 😠
Hi @Anonymous
I know you raised this with us previously, but at the moment we don't have anything that we can share. As soon as we something from the Comms team we will get it straight to site.
Keep an eye on the announcement boards, we will usually post there as soon as we have something.
Thanks,
Dave

Not aimed at you or any other member of the team, I know you can only say what you are allowed to say, but it really is a (insert swear word of choice) way to treat people. How would ebay staff feel if at the same time the CEO had told shareholders that as a moneysaving exercise they were cutting ebay staff by 50%? Would you really just happily sit and wait 3 weeks to 3 months for an announcement to see if your job was safe?

Good afternoon, just wanted to start by wish everyone a merry Christmas,
Just wanted to ask in regards EU GPSR, by disabling all EU countries and Northern Ireland in shipping preferences, listings are fine and need not take any further action?
Also, regarding EU GPSR I take it that private sellers are not required to be GPSR compliant ?
I ask this question as where does eBay stand on manufactured products that have been made ’manufactured’ by private sellers ?
If this is the case that private sellers are not required to be GPSR compliant, does ebay see this as a potential loophole for business sellers making products which are trading under a private account ?

I know there have been reports of it on other sites which has led lot of speculation on this. Our team have been feeding all of this back to the team running the project. They know how urgently we are waiting on an update so I can assure we will get an update to you ASAP.

@Anonymous Just to back you up on this - while this topic just came to general awareness for a lot of sellers in the last couple weeks, the statements about it were made in the Q3 earnings call which was on October 30th, so we're actually almost 2 months down the line at this point.
Not only that, they were part of the CEO's prepared remarks for the earnings call and also part of the slide deck presentation prepared for the call.
That means those statements had been considered and scripted out in advance rather than being an off the cuff response to the Q&A segment with analysts at the end of the call.
Bottom line, eBay has likely known exactly what their plans are on this topic for at least 3 months and giving sellers the courtesy of direct, clear and timely communication about it is just simply not on their priority list.

Hi mrdandt, thanks for your post.
If you are not shipping to the areas that regulation covers, then you don't need to add the required information. So, no further actions would be needed from your end, if that's the case.
The regulation applies to every seller shipping items to the areas impacted by this regulation, so if you are a private or business sellers you will have to be in compliance if you want to sell/ship items to the areas in question.
All items will have to be incompliance regardless of the manufacturer, or whether they are brand new or second hand, for example.
Thanks for the nice wishes, we wish you a merry Christmas as well, enjoy the holidays. 🙂
Thank you,
Marco

I thought ebay were taking a stand against price gouging??
Its amazing how many private sellers are selling multiple copies of xmas tv guides at well overinflated prices, in most cases 2 or 3 times higher than the business sellers legitimately adding their extra costs. Theyve stripped the shops and its impossible to buy a paper version online.

dave@ebay all due respect, it's not speculation and you know that because the exact quotes and link to the earnings call transcript were provided to you in previous chats.
