Severe failures with accessing eBay

Cannot Bid, cannot Buy it Now, cannot save to Watchlist, cannot view Item Description Photos, in a nutshell, cannot do anything that I could 3 days ago without issues.

What the heck is going on  ??

Sounds like the version of Safari that lots of folks have with iOS 15.8.8 no longer works with eBay. Possibly other browsers as well.

If that is what you are encountering, I would suggest reporting the issue to eBay directly using one of the "Tell us what you think" browser links from one of the affected My eBay pages, then trying other browsers to see if one works better and posting the detailed results here of which specific browser versions have been tried.

Hi and thank you for your response.
Yes, I think you are absolutely right, because I am on Safari 15.8.8 !
I might be being cynical, but is this all a ploy to get us to upgrade to Brand New phones and tablets ??
An investigation into this failure is sorely needed, otherwise EBay are going to lose hundreds of thousands of loyal customers, myself included.

You are absolutely right they will lose a lot of customers and buyers l am having the exact same problem as you ,my iPad is an older version and I can’t afford a new one at the moment and I am sure there are many ,many more people in the same situation.EBay need to address this issue.

Absolutely right with what you say, and I am positive that we are not alone. EBay are shooting them selves in the foot, and it is mainly going to effect their original, loyal customers.
EBay, get a grip, and think about this VERY carefully, and reverse any changes you have made RAPIDLY.

Perhaps but it’s stupid for them because they will lose a lot of customers. Three days ago it was working just fine so it must be something they’ve just done. Can’t access the buttons to buy or submit offers. They shot themselves in the foot with this.

I have the problem with Safari too, but Firefox on the same iPhone works fine.

Sorry - please ignore this. Firefox has updated and now doesn’t work either.

Hi,
I tried uploading Mozilla Firefox too, but it needed a minimum of I.O.S. 17.0
and all my iPhone could support was I.O.S. 15.8.8
Very frustrating indeed, but interesting to know what you managed, and useful for others to know.

Hi All,

For those of you who this is impacting on this thread we have tech currently investigating it. If possible can you share what version device you have along with what version operating system so we can include this in the ticket with tech.

Thank you,

Kat

Thanks Kat.

I am using an iPhone 7 with iOS 15.8.8 which is the latest version compatible with this phone. The problem is the same with Safari and Firefox browsers.

Thank you for your response.

I spoke to a member of the Tech Team, and they said that anyone with older phones and tablets that cannot support at least I.O.S. 18.0 will no longer be able to access eBay at all !
A lot of customers are going to be very, very unhappy about this.

Hi again Kat,

I too am using an iPhone with an updated I.O.S. of 15.8.8.
I cannot Bid, Buy, Watch, or view Item Descriptions using Google, Firefox or any other Browser come to that.
It just appears that customers with older phones and tablets have been shut out from accessing eBay !

Using I phone 7. ios 15.8.8

unable to bid, watch, buy it now or accept offers

Hi I have an iPad Air 2 15.8.7

iPad Mini 4 with iOS 15.8.8

I can click on an advert, but the photos do not load properly. One main photo loads, but the rest of the photos are just grey boxes trying to load.  A couple of thumbnail photos are visible, but I can’t click on them, and again the rest of them are grey boxes trying to load. I also can’t click on a photo to enlarge it.

Also, only a couple of lines of the description loads. The rest is cut off, not visible.

This is the same on Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.
