Payments on hold

So this week 2 buyers have reported their items as not received. Payments from yesterday are now on hold until tracking shows the buyers have received them. I post by Royal Mail and don’t track items as most of my items are under the value of £10 and it isn’t cost effective as I offer free postage as well. EBay customer support think tracking costs 10p! Is this going to continue going forward or just this transaction, does anyone know? Thanks

Your items look like Large Letter size but some of them look heavier than 100g, so I will say that RM gives you a Reference Number on your receipt for 250g LL size. This is an internal RM tracking number, and can be uploaded into your eBay INR cases like regular tracking. Since 2nd Class is 2-days per week now, and since RM shunt 2nd aside as the postage rush increases for the holidays, if it were me I would package LL items so that they weigh more than 100g to get cheapest tracking option. Otherwise I suspect things will only get worse in the coming month or so.

The reference number won't give you any tracking details on standard Large Letter postage - Large Letter items are only scanned at the point of delivery and then only if they have a Horizon label/barcode, there won't be any tracking of any kind if the LL is posted using stamps.  Standard 1st and 2nd LL are not scanned elsewhere in the network (and often don't seem to get scanned at the point of delivery by the postie either, it seems).

Only an actual tracked service will give you any tracking details during transit.

Unfortunately, since the changes to the requirement for delivery confirmation, ebay will now hold on to your money until after there is either conformation of delivery, or feedback left by the buyer.  If neither of these happen,  it is longer for the hold to expire.

I have the same issue, I send cheap(ish) items with small/large letters, and under the delivery the payment box just says:

!Payment on hold

With no date of release. How long does it take for the hold to expire, I have had some buyers confirm delivery and this hasn't released the payments

Thank You!

With no tracking to show delivery,  and as feedback does not release payouts sooner,  eBay believing it can be left in error,  your payouts for those items will be held for 14 days,  as long as your account is not subject to any other hold such as for a new or returning seller.

@pokesharp

Once you meet the criteria for faster payments, see the link below, you will be able to withdraw your money within 24 hours of the sale.

I send most of my items as large letters with just a stamp on, so never get confirmation of delivery.

Generally though, payment is available before I post items out.
