Has anyone had a notification to link their account to Apple and then your account seems to disappear as you have known it for years

Yes, if you sign in using one of he alternatives Apple,Facebook or Google then eBay links a new account, you need to sign out of the new account and sign in to your old account using the original details you can then close the newly created account if you wish.
