What aout verify with copy of passport or driving licence. Using someone else credit card seems more troublesome to me. I am 64 and facing the same issue.

They won't use that method because it would involve paying for a big team to check those credentials, a cost which would invariably be placed on their sellers / buyers in some format.  Wouldn't be a popular move.

It's the cheapest way eBay can use to verify a person is over the age of 18.  Credit card companies have already used their costly verification process before allowing a person to use their credit card to prove they are over 18.  Anyone of any age can use a debit card,  so it has to be a CC.

Annoying and unfair , I fully understand for those who don't posses one,  my parents never had them, I agree, but it boils down to a cost saving exercise.

Nope, sorry, not going to happen.

Ebay would need to spend money on processes or humans in order to do this sort of verification, and they don't want to...... The credit card companies have already verified anybody who gets a card, so that's the system ebay will use!

Honestly mate this 18+ fiasco is now getting beyond a joke, went to buy a chainsaw wouldn't let me because I don't have a credit card, not everyone wants a bloody credit card, I Honestly despise ebay now, and if I didn't sell on there I wouldn't even bother using the site. No help for the sellers and couldn't give a *bleep* about the buyers
