Just a theory, I have no skin in the game here, but watching a convo unfold on a FB collectors page....
Two people trying to sell similar items on a FB page. One has a damaged, incomplete item, says he wants £200 for it and was generally met with derision. Other seller decided to list on ebay as an auction item. The only other similar sold item on ebay went for just over £30 a few weeks ago. Auction bids went up to over £200, then the bidder requested to cancel the order, claimed 'it was a mistake'. The seller has relisted the item.
But - now if you search for 'sold' items her listing appears as 'sold' for over £200. Even though it was cancelled immediately (and she accepted the cancellation). I cannot help feeling that this has been done fraudulently in an attempt to inflate the value.
If an item doesn't actually sell (ie the sale isn't completed) surely it shouldn't appear in the 'sold' filter? Any thoughts?
