For the first time this evening i have been forced to use simple delivery, and unable to select custom package on a heavy glass vase that will require double boxing and effort from me and I’m no stranger to this and I’m good at it. I usually add 80p or a quid for my efforts and packing materials.
I can’t do this anymore, it’s making me feel like quitting !!

True but you can add 80p to the item price.

they want to take complete control and it helps pay for all the tv advertising they are doing to make up for dwindling sales

I had just noticed this too.
Phoned customer support, but they suggested the dimensions were wrong or the supplier had changed their prices (neither applicable). They said there was nothing to be done.
Clearly this is a hidden cost to the seller. 10p here, 6p there – Across thousands of accounts this will amount to a huge revenue.
Clearly Simple Delivery is a complete no-go. I thought they'd fixed it!

If the screenshot is for Ghost Adventure and Stormguard items then both postage is shown as "Royal Mail Tracked 48" i.e. not Simple Delivery.

They were both Simple delivery, using only Royal Mail. Tracked 48 is what it defaults to for Royal Mail as its the cheapest tracked service that they offer.
Looks like this on the listing edit form.

Maybe we can agree to disagree.
E.g. Your current Aircraft Powerglide shows (to me) as not Simple Delivery.
Whereas The Crew does show (to me) Simple Delivery.
[If you revise an item e.g. Powerglide ebay may change it over to Simple Delivery at that point.]
£3.45 is also not a current SD price, although they do change occasionally.

I've had the opposite, price-wise - eBay charged 3p less than the online cost quoted for sending Royal Mail 48. BUT... my item should be delivered today and it's not showing as due. If it fails, it will be the first time ever that I have sent something by this service and it has not arrived on time. Or, in other words, put two grasping, sh1te companies together and what more can I expect. 🤔
