If it is against EBay policy to sell them (or is it government policy, we are unclear) - why are EBay allowing this??!! There are 63 listings up stating fertile hatching eggs for sale.

Because they simply are not serious about upholding policy on their site.

It's not just eggs - ALL of the things you're not supposed to be able to sell on eBay can easily be found. Racist material, pornography, digital goods, live material, it's all there. You would think they could have bots trawling through listings night and day, but no, they just pay lip service to the concept of ethical trading.

There are a lot more than that who are pretending the eggs aren't for hatching. eBay have recently removed hundreds, but the sellers just relist. eBay's reliance on people reporting listings makes their policy a bit null and void. Until recently, there were thousands of live corals being sold. The amount of brand new sellers that register and then start selling 'live animals' makes a mockery of the policy. Why aren't there people at eBay checking. I mean, you just gave to search 'eggs' and you find anything from quail eggs to emu eggs for hatching (despite what the sellers say). eBay policy does not account for the facts that give these sellers away.... Price of eggs for one! And who buys eggs from very specific varieties of bird to eat, especially at 4 or more times the price of eggs that we can all buy. In fact. Who buys any eggs for eating off eBay when postage would make them more expensive than a farm shop, even if the egg price itself was the same?
Keep reporting them people. Why should they get away with it when so many have had to stop selling because of the policy?
Rant over.
