Well done Rose, I think I've sussed out what Queenie is doing - linking to the second word. There is a word game which does this on another board. Our game is different.
The original idea was to link each word to another - hence double association. You should be able to make a phrase linking your first word to the previous first word and ditto for the second words.
e.g light / house ..... night / mate (night light - house mate) .... good / ship (good night - ship mate) .... show / shape (good show - ship shape)
If your word pair makes a phrase that's great, but it doesn't have to.

sun / ring
