Hi all, I have an old book question...a bit esoteric, but this might be the right place to ask it. The book is: "CONSTANTINOPLE ILLUSTRATED" Illustrations by Thomas Allom. Descriptions by the Rev Robert Walsh. Two volumes bound into one book. Published by Peter Jackson Late Fisher Son and Co. No clear date of publishing, however the double page map of "The Mediterranean" appears to be dated 1843.
I have traced other editions produced in two separate volumes, published by by Fisher Son and Co., in 1839.

Can anyone help me with the date of printing for this issue?

Heres hoping Jim

The first two may be the same as yours as they also have no date. Not much help with dating yours of course!

Here's another description of a later reprint - still no dates on any reprints although it was apparently re-issued several times.

A series of drawings mainly by Thomas Allom. With descriptions of the plates by The Rev. Robert Walsh. 2 volumes in 1, 4to. In a late 19th century half burgundy morocco binding by J. Wright, titles and elaborate decoration to spine gilt, raised bands, marbled paper boards and endpapers, all edges gilt. With 2 engraved vignette title pages, 2 maps (1 folding) and 94 steel engraved plates. Some shelf wear and very light foxing, otherwise a very good copy. An early reprint of Fisher's monumental publication. An important nineteenth century work on the great city, its architecture and its people.

Anyone know what these are? Did they come with a specific publication as I need help listing them. To good to bin.

I've some square cards of animals approx 4" Square of animals, birds seems about 20 in a pack sellophane wrapping.

Hello
I have a book -Jesus in London- by E Nesbit. The illustrations are by Gerald Spencer Pryse. I have researched it a little using the normal channels but am drawing a blank. How many editions were printed? It's value? Or anything interesting (or boring)or just something, anything...

many thanks in advance

Own up!!!!

Who's made this page go wide? 😞

"If Jesus Came to London".... Christian Socialist poetry for children by Edith Nesbit.

Googling brought up a full transcript, so a potential reader would not have to shell out money for the book. Any value will depend on whether Nesbit has a following of collectors.

I have a book I bought when visiting Scapa Flow in the orkneys.
It is called Scapa with a camera #444/550.It is a re-print of a book made in the 1920's.
Is it worth any decent amount?:-)

I can only find Scapa and a Camera by C.W. Burrows, assuming its that one if you look on bookfinder.com the realistic sellers are asking roughly £15 - £20. Bear in mind those prices are for copies that haven't sold yet and Ebay usually comes in less than those.

Yes I have seen those, they seem to be ten a penny.Different to this one.

Why can we still pay to have a book advertised in featured plus and there be no featured pages in the new search? does it mean that the only people who see your ad will be those that opt out of the new search??? I have bought many books browsing through the featured pages, thats why sellers pay extra for the use of

Good evening everyone, im hoping some clever soul can help me regarding a book from my childhood, it was called
(as far as i recall) The speedwell book of verse, the cover was black, with speedwell flowers to one corner, it
was roughly 3 inches x 4 inches and had a small verse on
each page, along with a pic of the speedwell flower.

Would love to have a copy again.

Hi dizzy,

Certainly not a 'clever soul' but the only soul around at the moment 🙂

Could this be the one?

I can't find any reference to a book with that exact title, the closest I got was:

Speedwell Or, The flower of Saint Veronica. Verses, by Anna J Granniss

Theres a couple on Amazon, with no description, so you could email the seller and ask if it matches your memories.

Hi, it could be, do you know where i could maybe see an
image of the book?
Thanks for your help, i will keep an eye on that site!
