There is only one listed on Bookfinder.com for $179 so it's not that common and chances are is worth listing in the condition you have it. It's only 10p to take a punt anyway.

what! $179.00 for somthing that small, i'll give it a try, and give a good photo of the foxing. thanks for your help, i have so many books to go through, we need the space for alterations

Just bear in mind the price on bookfinder are for unsold books so it may be overpriced.

not expecting that price for it, been rooting through the books this evening, and checked them on the site you mentioned, dad and uncle had some nice books it seems, if i asked a 1/4 to a half of those prices, would that be fair

Thats generally the formula I use for Ebay about 1/4 for poorer condition books to about 1/2 for better condition books. But I tend to price to sell quickly when possible. Other people may well think differently.

thankyou for you help i shall put some more on tomorrow

Thanks for your help! i'm really no good at pricing things up, ive had a good look at my book there is the usual wear and tear but apart from the brown mark on the back it is in good condition with all its pages! it is not signed but it is an advanced proof which also gives the provisional publication date. it is published by Sidgwick and Jackson of London.

What would be a good starting price in £ and should i but a reserve on it? if it is worth somthing i would hate for it to go for 99p

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars, but check when you say the paint is wet?

Sidgwick & Jackson was the first British Edition. There is only one of those listed on bookfinder at the moment and they are asking about £70. Given the condtion of your proof personally I would start at between £20 - £30 with good clear pictures of the marks.

I certainly wouldn't use a reserve and would just start for the minimum price I was prepared to accept.

thank you very much for you advice! its worth a shot!

hi, I got all lotr collection from art to rare, is it worth listing, or shall I wait till peter jackson ,brings out the hobbit movie now been flimed at new zealand, also have gold bound seal box set of all the harry potter books, first edition, need the cash.

If you want to sell the lotr items now is likely to be a good a time as any, I can't see waiting until The Hobbit coming out will add a huge amount of value.

Can anyone help with this one, tried all the sites I know to no avail. "Life and Exploits of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.....A legendary Romance"

No date other than June 1896 written on frontpaste down, no author, publishers Milner and Company, Paternoster Row London see photos below

Amazon or Ebay?

Personally I'd lean towards Ebay it will be the condition and illustrations which sell it and you can show them off well on Ebay.

It could be scarce or, even, rare.

That doesn't necessarily make it desirable. Who is the illustrator? That pic looks very pre-raphaelite.

It's by Thomas Malory first published in 1878

didn't see your link Bee!

The 1878 edition doesn't match this one and of course whoever edited it must have based it closely on Malory so much so that it is listed as credited to Malory. Milner are listed as the publishers of this title in 1878 but the boards are a different colour.

Many thanks all, will give it a whizz and see what happens 🙂

Hi all, I have an old book question...a bit esoteric, but this might be the right place to ask it. The book is: "CONSTANTINOPLE ILLUSTRATED" Illustrations by Thomas Allom. Descriptions by the Rev Robert Walsh. Two volumes bound into one book. Published by Peter Jackson Late Fisher Son and Co. No clear date of publishing, however the double page map of "The Mediterranean" appears to be dated 1843.
I have traced other editions produced in two separate volumes, published by by Fisher Son and Co., in 1839.

Can anyone help me with the date of printing for this issue?

Heres hoping Jim
