When I worked for a publisher, they always approached the local book shops first (by foot) who were often agreeable to the idea of boosting a local author.
I remember we used to leave a book at each shop and then go round the following week to see if they would display them.

hiya all, i was just going through a box of books and came across Dragondrums by Anne McCaffrey. it is an uncorrected advance proof i was wondering if this sort of thing increases the value of the book?
can some one please tell me if an advanced uncorrected proof book is worth anything??
How much wold you recommend i put it on for? its Dragondrums and it is good condition apart from a brown mark on the back where i think a nbit of coffee may have spilt
