Hoover - Thompson. A Genealogical Study by Marjorie Harland Barker Diedrich Florida 1985 179/200 and Barker - Harland A Genealogical Study...same author 72/100.
They are huge beautifully bound comprehensive histories of the families, full of photos, family trees, maps etc.. and I would love to get them back to the families concerned. Only bought them from a charity shop because I couldn't bear the idea of them being pulped!
Is there some place that specialises in Geneology books?

I've just checked out the prices of my AGA cookbook and AGA weekend cookbook and find that they are priced from £27 - £198. Why the discrepancy? They all seem to have the same ISBN, all published 1996 and 1998 respectively. I then tried ABE and they have them from £30 to £95. They both have cheaper EX-library copies. I just don't understand why anyone would want to pay £198 for a cookbook or are they just dreaming.

Many booksellers are blissfully unaware of the intrinsic value of their stock. When they go to list it, and find no other copies listed, they quote a silly price. Then others come along and gradually undercut, but the old listings remain. All this time, nobody has bought a single book.
The situation is even more complicated on amazon, where the use of software to adjust prices against competition is widespread, so if there are only a few copies of a book listed, the prices bounce around all over the place.

The market for these is probably in the U.S. even though you would have to charge a lot for shipping.
You could try the genealogy category on ebay.com, and, besides mentioning family names and Florida, mention the names of any towns or counties where these families were concentrated.

I had a look around last night, and found so many books with "Cooking is Easy" in the title, that it was not possible to make a sensible suggestion. Can you remember the author, by any chance?

It is a 'review slip' and they show up quite often. Usually means the book probably hasn't ever been read.

I was given a book and map last year and any help on the subject would be great.
The book is titled Mrs Beetson's book on Household management. Inside is dated 1 oct 1887. Anybody know a reference I can find on this book?
Also stuffed in there was foldout pocket map of London.
titled Waltham Bros Pocket map of London & Croydon
New edition 1886.
Thanks very much,
Mark.

Brown Mouse
Brown and White
Children's books written and illustrated by Frank Jenners no date in either, probably 1940s or earlier.
I can find records of Jenners as an illustrator but not as an author so I don't know whether he wrote any others.
My mother has these, the first has a date inscribed by the owner as 1947. The second she picked up in a charity shop in the fifties. I want copies but have drawn a blank. Anyone any ideas where to look other than the obvious places?
