Good afternoon, all!
Does anyone else experience mysterious feedback statistics to do with postage costs?
eBay “Simple Delivery” has been default for my listings for a long time now but there is a persistent mark down of the rating for “Reasonable Postage Cost”.
eBay sets the postage price but my stats are degraded as if I have control over the pricing.
It feels a bit misleading/unfair?
Cheers!

There have been several comments about this recently - it may (don't hold your breath!) be something Ebay will look at in the future.
My postage star rating is currently 4.8 - presumably because I charge £2.05p to send items with a £1.55p stamp. Realistically, I can't afford to sell a brooch for £3.60 and not charge enough to cover the cost of a new padded envelope, good quality bubble wrap, sellotape and brown tape.
The only way to avoid being marked down is to offer free postage and add the cost onto the items you sell.

Thank you for your reply, it is appreciated.
Am now content that I am not alone with this glitch.
On the whole, Simple Delivery charges less that I had been previously charging for various items.
Customer gripes in the past were mainly to do with the cost of the Global Shipping, revealing that eBay did not make it clear to customers who was charging what.
Why there is an option to comment on the sellers postage charges when it is eBay setting them shows yet another oversight when developing functionality for the site.
Still, it is a minor irritant that I will learn to ignore.
Thanks again for taking the time to reply.

Hi I have 5 stars for all Feedback except postage which is 4.9 It does no seem fair as eBay simple delivery sets the price. Time for them to remove this section of feedback

Some buyers think "postage" includes packaging.
According to what the buyer THINKS: was the item well-packaged or do they think it could've been better (even if the item arrived intact!), or even too much packaging so they think they paid for unnecessary packaging? A seller can't win against that kind of thinking.

Hi!
Yes, I have 100% main feedback but the secondary system about postage cost etc seems opaque and invites anonymous negativity without a right to reply.
Customers can see postage charges before they purchase so one could assume they found it acceptable.
I doubt customers understand it is eBay dictating/collecting the postage charge, not the seller.
A pointless exercise that skews the supposedly all important statistics.
A brave new world, indeed!

Before "Simple Delivery" everything I sold was posted at cost, no extras for packaging etc.
Now, "Simple Delivery" charges for postage, no hidden charges for packaging.
Many customers mention how good my packaging is in their feedback, never have had a complaint (hostage to fortune now).
I agree with you about the thinking, or lack of, when some customers just want to stick the knife in because the system allows it to happen anonymously, mark down the seller without having to explain why, what the issue/problem was?
I have unhappy days now and then, I hope never spiteful ones.
Still, we forge ahead.
