Community Forums will be Unavailable on Thursday Morning

This week, we will introduce the new Community Hub and upgraded eBay discussion boards. More information about this project can be found in our previous Announcement here. http://www2.ebay.com/aw/marketing-uk.shtml#2005-02-28183221

You should also be aware of an additional Scheduled Board Outage.

What you need to know:

- First, early in the week you may start to notice changes to the eBay navigation bar (the header at the top of the page) when you are using some of the Community pages. These changes will be complete over the next few days and will make the Community navigation bar consistent with the rest of the site.

- Next, the discussion boards and other Community forums (chat boards, Answer Centre, and eBay Groups) will be unavailable from midnight on Thursday 3rd March for up to ten hours. As the migration to the new platform progresses, some of the non-discussion board forums may be available early.

- Finally, on Friday morning after the Boards Update is completed successfully, the new Community Hub and updated discussion boards will be available for members to use. All active discussions will be restored and available to use once again.

Looked on the info, & can't see anything about whether current boards will stay, other than consolidating boards - does this mean we are going to lose our TH board? Or it's going to be split up all over to various parts of the community chatboards & forums?

Also can't see anything on old threads & the removal of parts of current threads? will the current practice of losing the first x No of posts from a thread be changed & space be recovered from 'killing off' threads that haven't been in use for a certain length of time?

Don't get me wrong, I am looking forward to the new format, as I presume it is only being put in place to make the forums more accessible & better for all concerned & as long as this is the case, let's hope eBay/Liveworld are willing to listen to any constructive criticisms raised over the past few weeks & over the coming months should any problems/glitches arise.

Could I suggest if we do get split up, we have a thread on a main board somewhere titled 'The Christmas Treasure Hunt Board'

From here, people can place their own links to wherever they are.

If I'm not being too cheeky, could I suggest this is done by one nominated person, who is on the boards regularly, so we don't all try it?

First regular to accept the challenge, gets the job?

will active discussions be split into a load of different discussion groups? or will the TH board be left intact?

I do agree though, I don't think there is anything to panic about yet.
