I remember watching her win the Gymnastics World Championships about 35 years ago. She was tiny, but absolutely brilliant. I just think they were better in those days than they are now. Too much about muscles and power now

Too much pressure on them all now. Superb all that they do though.
I am on the tiny side at 4ft 11, if only I could grow one more inch - Wow, so tall I would feel. ![]()

I think the Russian and Chinese gymnasts were always under too much pressure, especially as they were only young
As long as your legs go all the way to the ground, you're as tall as you need to be and anyway you can buy childrens clothes and there's no VAT on them ![]()
I once knew a girl who insisted she was 5 foot and a tea-leaf tall

I'm not actually lofty. I use to laugh at Jeremy Clarkson always taking the mickey out of Richard Hammond for being really short and then found out that he's the same height as me.
Then again, most people are short next to Clarkson, he's 6ft 5

I remember when my Dad worked for a while driving buses. His conductor was nicknamed 'Lofty'. But, he was only about 5ft 3. ![]()

My dad is only about 5-5. Still I'd rather be my height than Robert Wadlow's 8 foot 11.1 inches when he died at just 22 and he was still growing

So tall indeed. Imagine if many in the world were that tall. I would feel like a little dwarf next to them.

People are getting taller. When I was younger 5-8 was average and I was on the smaller side of average. By the time I was 35 it was up to 5-9, now it's 5-10. So I'm actually small now. Even clothes are getting bigger. I used to wear medium, but a lot of mediums are now too big for me. I tried a jacket on the other day and I could have pitched it in the back garden and slept under the stars!
