General census so far is a childrens charity dealing with very sick/terminally ill children and family support.

I think if there are any unclaimed prizes they should be spread throughout the uk and not just england, after all there are many terminal and sick people in Scotland who never seem to get a look in in things. The prizes should be given to them and then they should raffle them at charity events the money raised then given to their causes.

The charities that would benefit the most are the smaller charities
maybe a third to animal charities
and a third to childrens charities
and a third the premature baby units

All charities are deserving, but i think in the current climate, it should go to the Tsunami victims. They have absolutely nothing, and need our help.That's my personal opinion anyway. 🙂

And, i dont mean to be horrible, but i cant believe people suggest giving the money to buy a new minibus (which, quite frankly can probably wait), when there are people where the money we donate (however small) will mean the difference between life and death. Sometimes you have to prioritise. Sorry if i offend anyone.

I would like to suggest that maybe just one of the prizes could go to the Donna Louise Trust in Stoke-on-Trent. It is a hospice called treetops for terminally ill children which has been set up in memory of a local girl (Donna Louise Hackney) who died aged 16 with cystic fibrosis. Just one of these prizes would make all the difference to these children who already live in a deprived area, may all the gifts be dispersed throughout the country and not just to one place, and think about the charities for the elderly as well as children

In view of the present and dire crisis in Thailand, Indonesia, Sri Lanka and India etc, I think there is no choice in this matter, but to give to the relief efforts which have already left this country today. E-bay is an international site and how many of those in need and distress will ever have the chance to use the internet like we can? Their need is for NOW and thousands more will die of disease epidemics if we don't act immediately.

I think the idea of a raffle for the prizes is a very good one. I think this would raise the most money as more people are likely and able to part with a few pounds for a ticket , than hundreds for say a laptop.
And I think the money raised should go to the devastated regions in asia

I think maybe ebay should consider donating the proceeds from these prizes to the red cross or any organisations currently involved in the dreadful asian tsunami disaster. I also wondered if ebay could provide any facility for sellers wising to donate part proceeds of sales? I know that we can put on the listings that we will donate, but is there any way ebay could help to reassure buyers that these listings are genuine?? Maybe a paypal account with a specific purpose so, say the buyer could pay the percentage eeded to the seller, and the chatrity donation to ie Charity@paypal.com??

eBay has many caring members. In addition to donating the value of 'Unclaimed Prizes' why not set up an account and invite eBayer's to donate say £1 to contribute towards the many charities already mentioned. After all most eBayer's benefit in some way through transactions.

I work for a charity called 'The Wilf Ward Family Trust' The aim of the trust is to provide support for people with learning disabilities (this was previously known as mentally and physically handicapped) We are constantly raising funds and a donation of anything would be so hugley appreciated.

The charity can be found on the web and I can provide the reg number and further details should ebay be so kind as to donate. Even a mug!! we can raffle anything we recieve and funds do go to worthy causes.

Obviously the disaster is huge, world governments will be donating millions, But without our help no matter how small, sadly people will die.
The eBay unclaimed prizes should rightly go towards helping the REAL Needy

Perhaps the prizes could be auctionned off and the proceeds go to 'save the children'
that way children in the SE of Asia will benifit as save the children is part of the Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC)who are sending relief to the countries that have been affected by the tsunami,

I agree with #247 The girls on the Q&A sig thread have been working hard trying to raise money for their chosen charity. It would be great to give their efforts a boost.

Can you imagine what it would be like to be blind. Just close your eyes for a few minutes and think of all the things that you would not be able to do. Although our hearts go automatically to help the children I do think that they get a lot of support as shown by so many of you opting for them. I think part of the prize money should go to the blind to make their lives a bit easier.

i would have agreed with a National Charity for Children (malcolm sargent cancer for children campaign is my personal choice) A national rather than regional, however, having seen the sights and the devastation of the Tsunami wave all over Indonesia/Sri lanka/Maldives/Thailand, I would like to see eBay auction off the unwanted prizes to gain money and send it to the Tsunami appeal.
I too am all for giving to UK charities rather than abroad all the time, but.....I have holidayed/or have friends who have in all of India/Sri lanka/Thailand and Maldives and those people needed help before this happened, so a little help from us could especially go a long way now. A lot of their income is from tourism is from us and they have also lost that now too...lets all try and help a little 🙂
