Hi Abby, the Nikon is a nice choice and is pretty well packed with features but not too complicated. Just remember if you have a load of lenses for the Canon they will not fit the Nikon but if you only have one or 2 then it won't be a big problem. You could always ebay your old camera and get a bit of money back.

The difference between the 2 brands I think comes down to personal preference to how the camera feels in your hands, I liked the Canon but just prefered how the Nikon felt.

I reckon you will have seen a price of around £500-600ish for the nikon but if you shop round you can get a D90 for similar money and is a very good camera to have

Here is an image I took of Jim my white cat for a competition, it was for a high key shot
basically high key means you blow out all the highlights, white is a highlight , still had to leave just enough detail to see he was a cat 🙂

This picture was taken for my 365 picture a day project, it was not done on a DSLR but a little point and shoot panasonic TZ6 pocket camera its a great little camera and takes a sharp picture
