Sometime on this or another thread somebody posted about lenses that fit Nikon digital slrs and are as good but cheaper. We bought son a camera last year and were thinking of an extra lens for this year.
Can somebody point me in the right direction. My first camera was an old box one and the second a Kodak brownie. Never moved on, just let OH take the photos now.

Guardpig, I agree with Sigma and Tamron being the best of the independant lens makers, I've just bought a Tamron 70 - 300 for £100, and I really can't fault its quality. Depends very much on what pictures you want to take though, some makes are better at different things.
