Thanks Bryn 🙂

I have now fathomed out how to disable the flash so reckon that will do for now. Seem to have problems learning new things and put it down to excessive drug use :_|

right, finally decided on my new camera, and am going to get the Canon EOS 450D tomorrow 🙂

Wow - what a great camera - I hope you have a great relationship with it :)

have you seen the cash back offer?

yep, the cashback offer is advertised with it..

so do you think its a good choice then. I was torn between that and the Sony one that is around the same price, but I read the reviews, and it seems that the sony one is a lot more expensive when it comes to extras like lenses etc..

I don't think you will go wrong with the Canon (or Nikon) :)

I've got the same camera as Mary, one of the reasons I went for it is that the Nikon D40 (similar to D60) got good reviews in the Gadget show.

Have you been to a shop and had a good look at it? Photobucket

Mary did you register for the Nikon newsletter apparently they also run courses to learn how to use your camera. I think that's what I need! but they're not being run anywhere near me at the moment.

I have recently bought a second camera body, It was a Canon EOS 50D to go with my existing EOS 40D both take all the same accessories, they are both excellent cameras

Wow - that would be soooooo good. However that is only a couple of days after I return from america so will probably still have jet lag. Kingston would take me two hours to get there but my niece lives there so I could have popped in but don't think I will be awake. I will register for the newsletter :)

I had a go of it in Jessops today, and was very impressed with the picture quality, as well as it did seem easy to get to grips with. The girl who was showing it to me, was really helpful too, as she said she had the camera herself, and knew how it worked.

I went to Currys after that, and looked at the same camera and ended up almost arguing with the sales assistant as he tried to assure me it did not have live view! 😐

Now I have had a play about with it in the shop, I am going to get it from Argos as they seem to have it for the best deal.

I could get it a bit cheaper on-line, but I prefer to go into a shop, and actually see it as such, and also be able to easily take it back if there is any problem.

for my next question... lol..

once I have got to grips with the camera, I want to go to college and do some sort of photo editing course, and also get photoshop... having just looked at the prices of the software I almost fainted!... what version of it would I need, as a beginner who learns very quickly..

You can get the download versions of photoshop fairly cheaply
Elements 6 is good (see link above in a previous post) other versions are availlable from the same site

I wish I had seen that site before I spent a fortune on the CD/DVD version :_|

PS CS4 is the best version (If you can justify the cost)
