Not so bad - had it inspected this afternoon; the over is OK - the problem is in the hob unit ( obvious arcing going on within the unit ) which is a separate unit; we have had the hob isolated so we can at least use the oven now.  Just can't use saucepans or fry anything, but we can of course do vegetables with the help of the kettle, a pyrex bowl and the microwave.

The hob will get a full examination later this week which will tell us whether it just needs drying out or if any parts of it need replacing; if the whole hob unit needs replacing at least it's only in the £125 or so range; a lot less than if it was the oven itself.

I've had a bit of a mini disaster myself.. sorta! This Sunday gone, I noticed a twinge in my back, shortly later, agony in doing pretty much anything! Standing up, sitting down, lying down, walking, lots and lots of pain! Though whilst today isn't anyway near as bad as Sunday (or yesterday), just shifting position in my chair here, causes some considerable discomfort

cke - get yourself to the quack asap; I had that in summer 2004.  I ignored it for a few days and it got worse.  Went to the quack and he found I had slipped a disc and I was off work for four weeks as a result...

Meanwhile, on the cooker front, the hob unit has been removed for off-site inspection today.  The results are awaited!

Hob unit has been opened for inspection.... totally defunct; very corroded etc etc.  Methinks there have been a few more boil overs that I haven't been told about...  New unit required... £109... Grrr...
