I now it's an odd question, but I want to buy a long length - probably about 7 meters - of the sort of cable used for bicycle brakes, i.e. with a wire running inside an outer sheath.
The problem is I don't know what it's called, and if I try to enter "bicycle brake cable" all it shows is cut lengths for bikes.
Does anyone have any idea how I can search for it? Thanks for any suggestions!

I think its called Jagwire and you may find it at http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=cycle+brake+cables&tag=googhydr-21&index=aps&hvadid=1127...
Hope that helps.

From a quick ebay search, it looks like the sellers of the longer lengths are selling the inner and the outer separately.

What I want to know is.... why do people resurrect a nine year old thread to say what's already been said?

As said above at #12, why do people pick up a ten year old thread to say what's already been said a few times???

Bowden cable is the real name for it.
any decent aviation / old plane fixer will know instantly.
if you ask a model maker/model shop. they might have "snakes" that are plastic versions for low friction. 7 meters is a long run, be careful with drag on corners.

Hi-
When I started working on motorcycles 50+ years ago, we called them "Bowden cables" and I beleive the term still applies. Regards-Keith N
