Good morning I think some people are missing the point I assume you mean song titles meaning Names i.e  Diane -fleetwood mac, Emily- hot choc, Sara -fleetwood mac, Sarah- thin lizzy, Julieanne - (not sure) carrie-ann The hollies just some coming out of my head at 6.00am

You're not wrong, @patriciawhelan-moss  - some people just don't quite seem to get the idea that this is supposed to be a list of songs with single-name, not single-word, titles. So the songs you mention are correct, with the exception of Julieanne; the actual song title was Julie Anne (two words so it doesn't count - sorry!), a 1975 release by an artist named Kenny.

@right-then-petal  Unless you can name someone called Barcelona I don't think that counts, sorry.

My contributions for the day:

Carrie - Cliff Richard

Rio - Duran Duran

song-titles that are only one name.

Petal

Bit selective of you there, Petal - you missed out the rather crucial single-name part...

The OP clarified this in Post 37 [my italics]: "To reiterate: it ought to be a person's name otherwise we'll be here all day." So you could have

America - Simon and Garfunkel (or Neil Diamond, Yes, David Bowie or First Aid Kit, who have all recorded songs with that title) because it's a name (the actress America Ferrera, for example), but you can't have Barcelona because it's not a name.

A bit like Chicago: it's a single-word song title, but it's not a name.

Recently released: Eleanor - Hot Chip

Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
I'm begging of you please don't take my man,
Jolene, Jolene, Jolene, Jolene,
Please don't take him just because you can

Ooh, and Eleanor by the Turtles.

Eerie circles upon the waters...

Although this thread seems to have died a natural death I have a few left to offer and as I don't like throwing things away (that's why I keep the ex-wife in the cellar...) thought I'd give them a mention:

Hope - Thirsty Merc (also, apparently, a song by XXXTENTACION. Nope, me neither...)

Angel - Sarah McLaughlan

Rosaline - Cold Chisel

and finally...

Berneice - Lynyrd Skynyrd

I guess that's it from me then. It's been fun - thanks everyone.

I've never heard of any of those! 😃

Eerie circles upon the waters...

I hope you're referring to the titles rather than the artists, muinn - I can accept that some people have never heard of Thirsty Merc and Cold Chisel, but not heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd? I'd have to lie down in a darkened room...

Right: Thirsty Merc. Australian band, won the Best Rock Album of 2005 award for their eponymous album, which includes the tracks Hope, In The Summertime and Someday, Someday. All excellent, all available on youtube and all well worth a listen.

Cold Chisel: Another Australian, and my absolute favourite, band. There are simply too many tracks I could recommend, but try Khe Sanh for starters, then possibly Flame Trees, Bow River, You Got Nothin I Want - and then go from there.

Lynyrd Skynyrd: If you've never heard of Skynyrd you've never heard Freebird. All I can say is I'm sorry for your loss. Berneice, incidentally, is on the album Twenty.

Enjoy...

Of course I've heard of Lynyrd Skynyrd (and Freebird), but none of the rest!  Thank you for the elucidation. 🙂

Storytime - Nightwish (If the story is about dragons then this is the best song on this list)

Unstoppable

Justin - Korn

Here's an obscure one!

Desdemona – John's Children.
