I got a call at 6.40am this morning ,
"Mr X ?"
"Yes"
"good you're up, see you in 20mins"
had a guess but they didn't say who they were
7am
my new cooker arrives at backdoor and put in kitchen and old one whisked away (after I'd sawed through cable to disconnect it, right after call)
I'm up anyway, but loads of people wouldn't be
Do you think the call and delivery were too early ?

I waited in all day Saturday for one from a different company , phoned them at 5pm and they said they'd been a 'problem'
why no call ?
no answer,
asked for a manager, I waited on phone until he cancelled order and put in action returning details to CC company.

I think it is quite normal for deliveries to be made between 7:00am to 7:00pm but I agree 6:40am is a wee bit early even for us early birds!
I would rather this than having to wait in all day for an item that never arrives because someone in the paper shuffling office forgot to liaise with the driver to include my order despite confirming times and dates with me! X-(

I'm expecting a delivery as signed up for, between 7.00am & 7.00pm.
I hope I'm as fortunate as the OP.:-D

I had a delivery a couple of weeks back at 7.30pm... I had been given a time of between 3-6pm so had assumed they weren't coming so was quite impressed when they rocked up at that time.
Yes al, far too early, 8-6 is fine, but mitzi's right as for us early birds, it's no problem!

When Special Delivery was first introduced I had reason to send and receive using it, it was very convenient.
RM. took it very seriously in those days and would invariably deliver at about 7.00 am.

I've never had a delivery at that time even wth special delivery (but most of the postmen know me so dont come early).
The usual time i et parcels is after 2pm which is a good decent time.

No time is too early as long as the driver is happy to wait for me to get dressed and get to the door.

It does mean you can get on with other things for the rest of the day, not having to listen out for the doorbell.

Do you think the call and delivery were too early ?
If you are informed that delivery times are from 7am and you go ahead and order I don't see how it can be 'too early'
Currys give the option of paying a bit extra for a time slot..

Forgot to say... The phone call 20 mins before the scheduled delivery time is excellent service... Had you been in bed asleep when they arrived you would have delayed them and it only takes a few delays to throw the days schedule out.
You say you were up anyway... Why wouldn't you be if you had ordered something that could arrive at 7?

6:40 would most definitely be too early for me - I am most certainly NOT an early bird. Actually quite grumpy before 9:30am. And for a cooker, at that time in the morning? No thank you - they would have got a flea in their ear. If they'd tried to prearrange that time, I would have refused.
And Al - they didn't say "Good Morning Mr Bear" ?? I'm disappointed 😞

Well if they phoned me at 0640 to make a delivery they would not have got me in as I leave for work in Glasgow at 0600. Any later and the road from Here to Glasgow is chock a block with people going to work.

I don't think I would hear anyone at my door at that time in the morning. Never had anyone deliver at that time - not very customer friendly.
