Story all over the social media about a guy who pulled up behind a mobile speed camera opened his boot lid and then walked across the road for a drink leaving the camera unable to record speeding motorists. In theory this seems a perfectly ridiculous thing to do however in an age when Police routinely ignore calls for help after Burglary or charge people for the recovery of stolen property is it perhaps understandable? If the police discriminate or are seen to be unfair when dealing with crime how can they expect to maintain public trust.

Grudgingly have to say villain I suppose for all the obvious reasons like speeding costs lives bla de bla but in my mind I did give him a secret little high 5 just for his chutzpah ![]()

It rather depends on why the camera was there in particular.
If local residents had been complaining about speeding motorists, it might be there to ascertain the size of the problem so the car owner was doing them no favours.

This is a regular spot for the camera, If there is a problem why don't they use calming measures I wonder?

Road calming measures do require quite a lot of consultation and gathering data to be done before they can be put into operation.

True, then there is the cost. I suppose the common sense answer is, If you want to drive fast go to a racetrack, If you are late for work slow down and arrive alive.

May not condemn them as a villain but certainly no hero either. BTW the van is not on the pavement but the car is, so tit!

Very true, Bank and... logical
