The world was his 'lobster'...

...now sadly no more. Actor George Cole has passed away, aged 90. Best known for his role as Arthur Daley in 'Minder', him and Dennis Waterman were the best comedy duo since Laurel & Hardy. The phrase that he coined 'Er indoors', winning a place in the Oxford Dictionary.

Will the phrase "Er indoors" get deleted from OED, as sexist?

I hope not. Everything is getting too PC for my liking

Ah shame!  Unforgetable in minder great script interpreted with great skill. Wonder who will pick up his Tab at Daves club?

Nobody likes PC. But we must pretend to agree with it.  Otherwise, the police will come round.

I refuse to pretend to agree with it. People should stop taking themselves too seriously.

If we don't say PC things, like we welcome "diversity",  even though we know it's **bleep**, won't we get in trouble?

See that is the problem these days, we daren't speak the truth.

Yes McB, the epitome of a 'spiv', and playing alonside his mentor, Alastair Sim.

Ironic though, that the role he was most famous for, he detested.

The late George Cole hated playing his most famous character, Arthur Daley.

He wrote about his distaste for the wheeler dealer character from ITV show ‘Minder’ in his autobiography ‘The World Was My Lobster’.

“He was a dreadful character,” he wrote.

“I don’t understand how he became so popular. It used to be worrying when I got letters from young kids saying Arthur

Daley was just like their dad. I wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

“He behaved terribly to people who got in the way of him making a quick quid - and the audience still loved him.”
