Jeremy Thorpe dead

 

He was our MP for years Fred. Such a shame about all the scandal a few years back. I met him quite a few times when I was little. Very sad when he lost his wife too.

He used to watch us as kids playing rugby when I attended private school in Harpenden (Herts).  I didn't know who he was at that time of course, but I always remember his hat - the epitome of respectability!  I always admired the man, and even after the sleezemongers had their day, he lost the by election  but not by a mile, so people still respected him.  God, not man shall be his judge.
