Nearly impossible to overturn a verdict based on a 'confession' across a lot of the States , in some states this DNA evidence wouldn't even be admissable

It's truly appalling, but now they're free, after spending 30 years of their lives inside, in a tightly controlled and oppressive system, and one has the mental capacity of a nine year old, what life can they expect, or even cope with from now on.
Can only hope that sufficient awards are made to ensure they are well cared for, but it wouldn't surprise me if they are left to fend for themselves or in the care of whatever families they have left.

Forensic science can prove innocence as well as guilt but it still amazes me to see cops blundering about all over a crime scene and picking things up with bare hands.
It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
Live long and prosper.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a Flawless justice system. However, the reality is that anything run by a Species, that itself is far from flawless, is also going to be far from flawless.
