ANPR has nothing to do with detecting tax dodgers, its used to catch drivers exceeding the speed limit. If a vehicle is registered by DVLC and it is not regisistered as SORN then it MUST be taxed. Putting the VED on fuel would penalise drivers who drive cars with low exhaust emissions

ANPR will show up untaxed & uninsured drivers,something like 800,000 drivers have been caught driving an untaxed car through the use of ANPR,as regards to declaring a vehicle as sorn ,I,m sure there are many drivers who will continue to take a chance driving their untaxed car,but they had better be on the lookout for mobile ANPR units as due to manpower shortages the police will have to increasingly rely on
