Looking out of my 9th floor window, I saw what I first thought was a bright star.

Then I realised that it was moving, thought maybe an aeroplane or a satelite

UFO = Unidentified Flying Object.

This was an object. apparently flying and unidentified by me, as I had no idea what it was,

So it was a UFO

Speed? Height? Light in the sky? Colour?

Terrific speed = meteorite.

Slower = aircraft.

Even slower = helicopter.

Slower again but very high = Satellite.

Slower still and lower = Chinese lantern.

White light, about the height and speed of an aeroplane, but I couldnt hear anything

I thought that aeroplanes had flashing lights, white in front and red at the back.

If it was flying in a straight line from west to east it could have been the International Space Station (ISS) which is currently visible again

Aircraft have a Red light on the left wingtip and a Green light on the right wingtip.

They also have a White strobe light and when landing and taking off have White lights "pointing" forward.

It's life Jim, but not as WE know it.
