Thank you Charlie.
Elephants, like this one with tusks. are hunted by poachers, so how is he to distinguish tourists from poachers? What has the world shown him but to have a well justified fear of mankind?
I know that you do not get close to an elephant as that car did. Not onlythat but the elephant turned a few times and gave a warning to back off (flapping his ears and making himself look larger). Instead of slowly reversing the car actually moves closer to the elephant. The elephant did what was natural and defending his herd when he felt threatened.
It is devastating that such a magnificent animal was shot due to the stupidity of the driver. The elephant was doing what elephants do. As Al, said she should be charged for this. So should the authoritys for shooting him, how the hell can you justify that? The car windows would have shown his reflection too. He would not know that humans were in the car either.

I agree but we are the tourists in there world and if you are lucky enough to be allowed in, then you
should not be able to complain about a wild animals behaviour and have them put down, human
arrogance at its worst![]()

One of the Afrikaan occupants in the car that was doing the filming calls her an idiot and that she should reverse slowly backward, if you look, carefully on the right, theres a Young Elephant in the long grass beside the road

Twas I.
Hi Rose, I forgot to tell you that this weeks show was cancelled because of the TV awards.
You may not have seen it, so I must tell you that on BBC 2 today at 16.10 PM to 17.10 PM is 'The secret life of elephants.'
If you want to see a WONDERFUL story with a wonderful ending, see it on Iplayer tomorrow. It will hurt your feelings, as these stories most often do. But there is a reason you will be glad you see it through. (I don't think you can view it on Iplayer till tomorrow?) But good luck!

BBC 2 tonight at 7pm - Wild Burma Nature's Lost Kingdom. Should Tim be about?
Be warned though. You will not believe what they do to break the spirit of those elephants.
Take care.
