Further to that , if he killed to get away why on earth would he risk losing his life in a foolhardy point blank shooting which I might add isn't certain of success, it just doesn't make sense!

The gun came apart so it was easier to wrap/disguise, then it would be less than 3 feet long.

In my youth I used to regularly carry, without any problem, either a shotgun or an air rifle hidden on my person when indulging in a little poaching.

Well he wanted JFK dead and to that end he succeeded and imo it was mainly thanks to JFK's security ,and thats what doesn't make sense.
