I've been using it for about 12 months, (bought a new laptop with it already one), took a little while to get used to it, but now getting the hang of it.

I'm a computer numpty so it took me years to find my way around windows 7.  Got a new lappy with windows 8 and it's going to take me just as long, if not longer!!Woman Sad

My new laptop has it on but my son "altered" it so that it looks like my desktop did with all the icons in place when I log on.  I just couldn't use it until he did that!

No

hate touch screens

and believe Windows 8, is part of the dumbing down of home computing

More suited for tablet & Laptop use, they want you to store on and use 'cloud' systems. That will be a lot easier for people to see what you are doing.

Just FYI touch screen is not 'mandatory' with windows 8.

My laptop has it and I use it in the same way I used it's predecessors.  Like one of the other posters I use the desktop mode so works very similar to previous versions.

Sorry if I'm bucking the trend a bit but I really like it. I ignore the stupid touch screen, because that appears to have been programmed for kids, especially with the look of it. I find it's got quite a lot of useful functions, once you've sussed it out, and it's so fast (although that may be my computer). I couldn't stand 7, I found it nigh on unusable, and most user unfriendly.

I tried it,thinking it would "enhance my online experience",It didn't,in fact i had to google how to turn it off !

Reverted back to windows 7 with a proper start menu where i can find everything

We are many,They are few

Theres been a slight boost in PC sales , saw this yesterday

The thing is it is the Windows 7 loaded systems that is driving it

Another case of  'new and improved', when in actual fact it isn't. Bit like this place.
