MOBILE APP NO LONGER WORKING

cant login to ebay app on mobile as app says it needs updating but there is no update. It seems it will no longer work on Android 9. Why not advise users before hand, why just block  access to people.  This is a real problem please ebay come up with a solution.

My app has done the same. I've uninstalled the app, restarted the phone, done a data clean and tried to install from the "update your app" message but the latest version is from Dec 2023!

According to a post on the UK community boards, the latest version of the eBay app requires Android 10 or later, or iOS 17 or later.

If you cannot upgrade your operating system or find an older version of the app that works with your current operating system, you should still be able to use a browser to go to ebay.co.uk instead.

If eBay browser links are opening in the Android version of the app automatically, you can disable that by going to your device Settings: Apps: eBay: Open by default: Opens supported links and choosing "Don't open in the app". iOS users can tap and hold an eBay browser link and choose "Don't open in the app".

Spoke to an eBay agent says technical issues should be resolved in next 24 hours.

Surely you should have a choice whether to upgrade or not & the upgrade should be there if you are told to upgrade.

Very poor service, they must have upset a lot of loyal customers.

Hardest part is contacting & speaking to an agent as I thought I'd done something wrong.

Got cut off 3 times prior to getting some info.

If your problem is an old operating system then there is no light at the end of the tunnel, whatever ebay CS might say.

It's the app in Google play store which is the one I'm being directed to
also on the eBay page bottom.

I have had same problem   so if you download ebay.com app you will get a working ebay only problem is prices in $ but £ in brackets you can continue to buy etc and checkout is in sterling

Used this a few times last two days  and works fine

Ebay seems to be on route to commercial suicide no wonder they are losing customers

Hi.
Tried that but it keeps sending me back to the std eBay app.
Turns out my phone is Android 9 which is why I'm having an issue as play
store will only let me download a android 9 version, so frustrating

Ebay will lose a lot of customers if they don't wake up and sort it out.

If the eBay app is set to open eBay browser links automatically you will have to either change your settings or delete the app completely. Once you do that, you should be able to use a mobile browser to go to ebay.co.uk and bid or buy.

Still not solved, they are losing business, I'm now using Marketplace and Vinted , no problems there!!!
