And of course eBay advice passes loftily over the requirements for paid content for influencers to be declared as such.  We just suggest that Maybe you can offer coded coupon codes in exchange for content to be posted on their channel.

 

But I do think it is irresponsible of eBay to promote marketing strategies to novice sellers by suggesting under-the-counter payments in exchange for advertising and favourable reviews, without reminding sellers of the legal and ethical requirements that turn a back-hander or under-the-counter bribe into a lawful and legitimate online marketing strategy.

It's a fair bet than your average eBay seller doesn't know the rules and regulations, let alone Best Practice, and it's surely a good idea to help them find the relevant details so they don't cross the boundaries or falsely think that "coded coupons in exchange for content" doesn't count as payment or advertisement.  It can and it often does count.
