I have a nice heavy green marbled fountain pen that OH bought me in the 80's. The nib has never been much good, and I wondered if all fountain pen nibs are replaceable?
Do you just get a pair of pliers and pull out the old nib and push another replacement one in?
There isn't a makers mark on the pen, some writing on the nib though.
any information would be appreciated.
thanks.

The nibs are usually taken in and out by unscrewing the top part of the pen where the nib is located, they then slide in and out. You shouldn't be able to pull them out without the unscrewing releasing them. If replacements are still available you should be able to get different tips ie thin and thick to vary the script. I would try somewhere like WHSmith or a specialist stationers for replacements.

Look at the nib through a magnifying glass CB, it might be the maker and have numbers or some such mark on the nib to let you know what size it is. This might sound silly but are you sure the nib is not left handed or right handed if you write left handed ? They do have left and right handed nibs.
