Updates? Love 'em or hate 'em?

We've all seen how updates on here sometimes cause havoc and now we see havoc being caused with payments/orders at Sainsburys and Tesco.

What is it with these so-called "improvements" that cause such problems? Can't they be properly tested before they're unleashed on users? Do have to be "thought of" and then implemented before they're tested in a real-life way? Once found to be "faulty", can't things be reverted back to the way they were before the update?

Is there anyone here who're familiar with such things and can give us some sort of explanation and insight as to the whys and wherefores of all the above, just as a matter if interest?

Updates?

No help or explanation, it seems too much like common sense to make sure things are working properly before they're released.

That's true but sometimes the "update" even if working proves to be a considerable nuisance rather than an actual improvement. For example, something neded one or two clicks to do it, after the "improvement" it takes three inconvenient clicks to do the same thing?

On here, you clicked "reply", wrote your reply, clicked "post" and when it had "gone up" just one click to return to the main RT front page.

Now, it's "reply", write your post, click "reply" again and when it's gone up you have to go to the top of the page before being able to return to the front page = four clicks instead of three?

Another thing about the update (from a while back) is that after clicking "reply" and writing your post, instead of it showing "post", it stays as "reply" BUT..... if after clicking "reply" to upload your post, you decide you need to "edit" your post, after clicking "edit", the word "reply" now changes to "post".

So, why isn't "post" there for you to upload a post instead of reply?????
