My good Lady wife and I are going on a cruise in October. Just round the northern shore of the Med. Nothing special andfairly cheap.
So I got a list of insurance companies that cover folk over 65 with pre-existing medical conditions. I found 3 that I recognised. No names - no pack drill - no advertising.
Anyway, they all asked the same questions about pre-existing conditions and they all got the same answers. The level of cover was virtually the same in all cases. In fact, the only difference was the amount of excess payable in a case of lost luggage and the amount payable if we needed to stay in a hotel due to a fault occuring in the ship.
So how come that the insurance cost for the pair of us ranged from £52.88 to £135.44 with £97.38 in the middle?

Over 65 Steve? I thought you were younger than me.
Did you try the one advertised on the TV with the man going to play golf and the woman going to Venice
Her with a knee replacement and he with high blood pressure, high collestrol and bunions.

Not just travel insurance. Decided to put our public liability out to tender so to speak. Quote I went for was half the price of the usual broker. Funny it was the same cover, the same policy, the same insurer!!!!!!!!!!!!! Oh did I have fun when they rang to inquire why I wasn't renewing with them.
