The BBC that is, they've done it again.

They've removed all the links to regional newspapers and news sites as the referendum nears.

I was expecting it but why do they do this?

OK, so the BBC regions are still in place with their versions of regional news but what made the BBC regional sites interesting was the links to other regional news which the BBC hadn't got their own reports on or were better covered by regional news sites. All we're left with is the BBC trivia and their sensationalised reports, some of which are many days old.

I suppose the BBC reporters are so wrapped up in political issues they think everyone else feels the same and are too bone idle to pick up proper, hard news.

Could it be their quest to be impartial? The BBC is a perennial whipping post for other media and political interests, they are criticised whatever action they take,

This was asked about on the BBC Points of View programme during the last local elections.

The response was along the lines that as it was difficult to just remove links to articles/blogs about the election it was easier to just remove all the links - the reasoning behind not linking to other 'election' articles was that if they did it would be nigh on impossible to maintain a balanced output.

The BBC has been unashamedly partial to the Remain cause for weeks....disgracefully so. And today has been the pits....Dave has been spouting off for the last half hour at least....but will we get Boris or Nigel talking for the same length of time? I very much doubt it. I always had great respect for the BBC, but as far as this referendum goes,they have been a disgrace.

Astro, you see what you want to see, There is a closed mind scenario among so many, how can you be impartial when your mind is made up?

Whichever way someone has their mind made up, isn't it the idea of "the other side" to persuade them by logical argument to change their mind?

It seems to me that the campaigns have been more to cement the mindset rather than persuade them otherwise.

No Archie....I have made a few notes as to air time for each side, and the Remain side has had much more air time. The actual debates have been pretty fair, but the everyday reporting has put a much more positive spin on remaining.

Anyway....it will all be over tomorrow and we can stop watching the campaigning and shouting at the TV!

Absolutely, I totally agree, the evidence on the other hand does not. Much of the debate has been centred on facts which are not influenced by the EU. Because of that the debate has been limited in terms of the real issues. The EU has flaws, many of them, the alternatives are equally flawed. As a country we are not unique in our environment but we do have a labour shortage mainly in the service sector, the EU plugs that gap, if the jobs were not there then neither would the eastern europeans. We would still be offering asylum to Somali refugees, Nigerians escaping Boku harem, Bangladeshi extended families seeking reunion and many many others. So for now and until I hear a shred of evidence based on fact rather than instinct I will continue to ask questions . No Doubt the answers will remain scarce.
