The extremely ugly and impractable Parliament Building (built with no office space for MSPs) at Holyrood is falling to bits, faster than it can be repaired or patched up. It has already had major strucural repairs, to the roof, structural beams, windows and concrete joints, they have all failed and had major rebuilding/replacement work carried out, but general maintainance is now costing over £140k A MONTH. Been open 9 years and already has had £11 million poured into it for maintenance.
Latest estimates are now saying by 2020 it will be cheaper to tear down and start again.
---------------
Our Establishment and Design lovies up here, have a ridiculous love affair with Italian, Spanish (especiallyCatalan ) architects and the country is littered with Mediterranean style building lying empty and crumbling, because they are not designed for Scottish weather. All have cost £millions and even more to repair or lock up to protect the public.

just had another £600k of lottery money thrown at it
IT really is about time, the People who decide on these Building are held responsible for the failures, because they do like their face in the spotlight, when the buildings are first opened.

Never mind, Al. I'm sure we English will continue to pay to bolster the Scottish politicians' vanity.
As usual.

Typical modern architecture, McB. If you dropped a fag packet in the street you'd be fined for littering, yet these people can do the same thing with impunity. Cheap materials, shoddy workmanship, and carte blanche to produce unaesthetic eyesores by the drawing board loons who dream them up. There certainly won't be a 'Listed Building' order slapped on them in years to come.

Once this referndum business is over
I expect the Royal Navy will sail up the Forth , and bombard the Parliament , turning it to ruins .

Doesn't the idea of a Scottish Parliament, seem outdated.
The Scots joined the English in the 18th century, to make a United Kingdom.
Which was a brilliant success. It led to the British Empire, which spread civilisation across the world.
And the Empire was run, to a considerable extent by Scots. Reflect how many world-famous politicians, generals, and scientists were Scots. In association with England, they gave glory to the whole world!
So why would the Scots want to give it all up, and become just another Belgium?

Latest polls still show only 31% want Independence
But of course, when we have Cameron, Osborne, Pickles & I D Smith doing their damdest to act like 'Little Englander' bogeymen, who nows how much a swing can happen in 8mths.
The biggest danger to the Union is the present Tory party, not the SNP
Remember if Scotland does gain Independence, then England and Wales would be stuck with a permanent Toff Government. With the City of London and the Shires calling the shots for evermore.
