He's now attacking the show he co-hosted ~ Comic Relief. I didn't watch it but why did they use this buffoon in the first place? He's nothing more than the second coming of David Icke ~ hopefully soon to disappear into oblivion.

Hello
Russell Brand is one person I cannot watch or listen to = allergic reaction I think !!!

There's a rumour motoring around that he's in line to host Top Gear. Mind you, he probably started it!

Well you answered both questions he posed - 'Is it right to do Comic Relief? Plus is any f***er watching it?' he said. 'Those were the questions I was asking myself as I walked out confidently onto the Palladium stage. And the answer is, 'No, not really'.'

At least he is more pleasing to the eye than all the other hypocrites in governments who are supposed to help the people they represent. (ok, the hairdo could do with a bit of a trim)

I bought one of his Irons, it was rubbish too

Harriet, have you taken leave of your senses, and lost the plot entirely ?
The man's all teeth and gums, and the length of his hair might be fine, if he gave it a damned good shampoo. Likewise himself. Appears to me that a good overnight soak in Dettol and Domestos wouldn't do him any harm, followed by a hot boil wash. If there's one individual that bores me to tears, it's Brand. His manic rants and outbursts makes not the slightest sense to me, and nor to him I suspect. Just ramble on ten-to-the dozen and I think he assumes that people will think he's intelligent. Anything to get himself noticed. If he's so concerned about politics as he claims, why doesn't he put himself forward as an MP ?
Oh, and as for his comedic qualities, I find him about as funny as leprosy. Just a pity the law wouldn't allow him to be cast adrift in an open boat.
I've had to edit this. I said a naughty word.

He looks like an aristocrat from the old days and acts like one. Nothing wrong with that is there? He would fit in nicely with the Royal family.
You might not want him to put himself forward as an MP...................young people love him. And what do they say...Our children are our future?

Such behaviour could see your ability to post restricted until you change your ways. Thank goodness there is an oasis of peace, Harmony and Love here on the lively ebay forums.I wonder how many contributors have fallen foul of this basic rule. Come on Blues could we have some use and abuse stats please?
Well judging by the number of members posting here at present, I should say quite a lot.

I know nothing! *add a Manuel accent for greatest effect*

Actually ... remembering the Brand/Ross/Sachs incident, best scrub round the accent!
Moderation would be a jolly interesting topic for a PhD though. You'd need a spy in the camp, of course.

I don't understand a lot of the angst surrounding this guy - disagree with his views and the causes he supports by all means, (mind you many of those criticising him if asked would possibly say they do support many of his causes!), criticise some of his antics, even his lifestyle, by all means but to say he should stand for election if he wants to be a social activist is a step too far!
One newspaper has called him a hypocrite because he pays a high rent whilst calling for rents for those who can't afford them to be kept low.
It is far too easy to ignore the 'good' many do by either saying it's not enough or that it doesn't count because of the 'bad' they may also do. Shakespeare alluded to this with the speech by Mark Antony at Julius Caesar's funeral, "The evil that men do lives after them, the good is oft interred with their bones".
I support our armed forces, in both words and deeds but should I have to join up to make my views valid?
I give where I can to charities to help those in desperate need and encourage others to do the same - does that make me a hypocrite because I haven't given everything away and am immeasurably better off than those being supported by the charities?

I take your point, Creeky, but, as I understand it (... and I am no expert on Brand and have only heard snippets of what he has said through the news, which may be distorting or taking bits out of context) he has been urging young people not to engage in the political process. Now, the point here is, that's fine and dandy for him to say, as he has enough money and fame to be pretty immune to politics, if he so chooses. But the people he is trying to influence are not in that position. For them, engagement with politics may be the only way to get change in place. The grey vote has succeeded in getting all manner of concessions and policies that go in their favour, simply because they get out there and vote. If young people did the same, and became a force to be reckoned with within the system, who knows how the landscape might change. Disengaging won't change anything for them.

I agree with you Caution and there are other policies Brand is advocating that I also disagree with - I see no problem with disagreeing with anyone's views but I defend their right to put them forward, (where legal). There is a difference between disagreeing with an idea put forward by someone however than saying that person or this person have no right to express their views or that they should be disregarded because of other unrelated aspects of their life.

Yes, indeed.
