Japanese pots

Hi any ideas on the origin/ use of these jars, cant find any similar. They both have a small hole on the sides. Thanks

Any  marks on the bottom?   If not they may have just been made for the tourist market.

Those holes looks like someone bought the items originally as vases drilled holes into them to make them into bedside table lamps ?
