He surrendered his licence?

OK, so Philip has surrendered his driving licence now?

Leaving aside who he is, do you think he should have done so and why?

If a young bloke had done the exact same thing would you expect him to surrender his licence too?

Reading the news countrywide there are umpteen cases of young drivers causing disruption, havoc, mayhem and sometimes death but there's no calls for them to "surrender" their licence? OK, they might get banned for a while but they're allowed back on the road after their ban.

Some are made to take an extended test but will that end the possibility that they might revert to type and drive like a lunatic again? On the balance of probability, they're more likely to re-offend?

Going back to Phil, I suppose someone will say "He might kill someone next time"? True, he might have done but surely the "young" driver is much more likely to do that?

So, over to you, what do you think?

Was the end of that post another attempt to introduce a JW slant on a thread? How many times has Armageddon been forecast so far?

Yes sorry about that. Was thinking about this thread and having had to endure a period of abstinence from driving I can honestly say that whilst it was precautionary it left me stranded in the middle of nowhere! I fo not believe that my condition in anyway impaired my ability to drive and am convinced that it only served to restrict my overal movement! But it did keep me off the road and therefore unable to cause a serious Incident which would have been a first for me had I been so unfortunate! I very much doubt that I will get remotely near the 98 years of the subject here, however if I did and I had the means I would be very happy to be driven around thank you!

You answer that yourself however you want CD, in my opinion it was a relevant point.

He surrendered his licence?

I had the very unpleasant job of taking my fathers keys and car away from him because at the age of 84 and been diagnosed with Alzhiemers he was tested by the DVLA on his competence to drive and failed miserably.

It was a terrible thing to have to do but it was my duty to do it because he had become a danger to himself and others. He of course couldn't accept he was but he had no choice but to allow it to happen.

I hated that time. Woman Sad

I don't see the point of that? What're they gonna do now, fine him? They can't ban him or add points to his licence?

I suppose some wills say "If it was anyone else....."?

Sorry CD but so what? that is life whether we like it or not, that's where tolerance comes into play  in my opinion.

With the greatest respect CD, it is the same with you and others when you post about evolution and the like, that is life and your choices of topic, I can either join in or scroll on by, but they are your choices and beliefs and I have to accept that and respect that.

what you have to understand is JW's are not out to be spiteful cruel and rude people, we are just living our lives as we see fit within the laws of God first and foremost and the Land as well.

We are on the whole good people.

Yes please, there is already a thread for debating JW religious beliefs.  One is surely enough, the discussion doesn't need to spread into other threads.

Just wondering though,

Has anyone taken a retest in order to be able to keep their licence and if so what was it like.

I passed my test just before the theory test came out, so if there are older one than me here it would shorely have been the same for you.  I know there has been even more additions to it now. What were you tested on?
