Some time ago someone did a sort of test and bought a load of lottery tickets and a load of scratchcards.

I forget the numbers but in the end they got about half what they paid out back again.

Another bloke bought 120 scratchcards costing about £600 and got £360 back in "winnings".

The same bloke spent £1700 over a couple of months and got £1120 back!

The odds are against you winning a fortune but the lure of "the big prize" keeps people buying.
