Bought an item yesterday from a 0 feedback seller - as normal I opted to pay via Paypal - all went through as normal until I had confirmed payment at which point Paypal inform me onscreen that the email account is 'unregistered'.
The payment was for a substantial amount and was 'taken' from my bank account almost immediately.
I contacted the seller who advised that they hadn't registered with Paypal but were happy to bring the item round personally and collect cash to which I have agreed.
Why, why, why, why, why couldn't Paypal have advised that the email address I was sending money to wasn't registered with Paypal BEFORE I confirmed payment rather than immediately afterwards
Having cancelled the payment to Paypal they are now insisting it will take 5 to 7 working days before this appears in my PP balance.
The whole thing stinks!
Rant over.

Make sure you inspect the item carefully before handing over the cash. There is no buyer protection for cash payments.
This is due to the seller having an incorrect paypal address in their listings. It is strictly against the rules to list items without having a genuine paypal account.

Even more reason then I would have thought to inform the buyer before the purchase was completed not afterwards.? But hey! what do I know!. lol.
Exactly - it's not as though this information is not available to Paypal at the time because they inform you as soon as you have confirmed payment!

So why is this not electronically checked before the listing goes live?
