I thought at first it was satire, but no
Boris Johnson has even promised to send out free bin bags to the lucky serfs agreeing to take part in the forelock tugging festivities. If that isn’t enough the event is sponsored by McDonalds, KFC, Greggs and Costa who are responsible for most of the mess anyway

Clean the streets
Then we can sack more Council street cleaners

I don't particularly care about the politics behind this idea......for me, anything that gets people to clean up the filthy disgusting mess on our beautiful island is welcome. We really are one of the dirtiest countries in the civilised world. When I walk into my local town centre, it makes me so depressed.....it is filthy, with huge amounts of litter, the majority of it discarded by schoolchildren. A couple of years ago, the main part of the town was pedestrianised, and laid with nice new flagstones. Already, they are covered with thousands of blobs of chewing gum....it's disgusting. We are not expecting her Majesty to visit us on her birthday, but I would welcome any initiative that gets people to keep the country clean.

Correction. It's the filthy mindless litter louts who purchase commodities from the above, who are responsible for the discarded garbage, and not the establishments themselves. Predominantly, by knuckle-dragging teens and twenties, it has to be said.

If you think the Land is bad you should take a look underwater, our seas are full of discarded plastics causing havoc with the ecology. I think we should agree a zero tollerance policy toward wilfull littering and make those responsible pay for their actions.

Unfortunately, anything the Queen may see; can be put on a par with ofsted inspections, Prison inspections, or any other inspections for that matter. Everybody cleans up, dresses up and has it running like clockwork until it's over.........then it reverts back to the Dung Heap it is the rest of the time.........no wonder some people don't know what's going on in the real World........they never get to see it.

In about 1974
The Queen was doing a big opening in Glasgow City centre, her journey to Glasgow airport after, would have taken her past where we stayed.
The Council came & completely cleaned the approach to the roundabout in my area
They erected fences, painted everywhere, planted trees and flowers, along the side of our scheme that was on the main road.
The event overran, so instead of driving, she was helicoptered to the Airport
She must have just got into copter, when Council lorries turned up and loaded all the movable improvements, incl plants, trees & even the fences and drove off
--------
The Queen must think the whole of the world smells of new paint

Doesn't Michael Gove look like a right plonker in that picture

Can you imagine running through his family photo album, " this was Michael when he was minister for Agriculture "
Why are we SO spoilt when it comes to people to choose for our MP's.

Clean your garage for nigel farage,
She doesn't even pay the people who clean up for her enough money:
Queen's staff could 'strike' for the first time as Windsor Castle workers vote on action over 'appal...

I am reminded of Mary Whitehouse who was asked if she was going to do anything for the Queen's Silver jubilee.
She said she was going to make a special effort to make sure she cleaned round the handles of her teacups.
The last time the Queen came to the town where I live, I don't recollect any particular cleaning up effort. She came by train so I suppose they may have given the station a bit of a sweep.
